Player Profile:

India is blessed with top performers across all sports, India has many accolades and tournaments won across different sports. Our Indian Cricket Team has also achieved all major feats including winning World Cups. India has produced great cricketers but one department where there has been that void is the urge to create a proper out and out Fast Bowler like how many International Teams like Aus, Pak, WI or NZ boast of.

One such emerging and young promising fast bowling talent at grassroot level of Mumbai is Zaid Patankar who is one potent pacer in the making! All but 18, Zaid boasts of all the natural attributes required to be a proper fast bowler.  Zaid began playing cricket at the age of 6 under Javed Khan at Navi Mumbai Sports Association while he currently practices at Parsee Gymkhana in Mumbai. Like every cricketer, Zaid began playing from School Level where he boasts of taking 5 fifers in marquee tournaments like Harris and Giles Shield.

Zaid currently represents Mumbai’s Top Division Iconic Clubs like Dadar Union Sports Club, Bombay Gymkhana to name a few. Whether it was his spell of 3/28 vs Andhra Pradesh in the Quarter finals of Vijay Merchant Trophy or his spell of 3/28 in the A Div Police Shield Game or his opening spell of 4 wkts on his Kanga Debut, Zaid has showed enough substance as a professional cricketer at such a young age rattling many batters senior to his experience and age.

Zaid Patankar

With the kind of attitude, fitness and approach he carries as a fast bowler, Zaid certainly looks all set to fill in the gap in Mumbai’s Fast Bowling Stable.

Zaid shared with Zoomcricket.inMy ultimate goal is to represent Mumbai in Ranji Trophy, play in the IPL and represent India at the highest level. I have that dream to take fifers playing for India. I am working out on my core areas for fast bowling, it’s mostly 4 days power and 3 days ground training. I am working hard and working on my basics as a fast bowler, hopefully il be able to serve and represent the iconic Mumbai Team soon followed by higher levels”
