India is a country blessed with innumerable talents in the sport of cricket. Some make it to the top while some keep grinding but that hardly takes away the amount of hardwork and passion which each cricketer puts in his cricket career. Each and every cricketer is talented, special and hard working irrespective of what they achieve in their career.

One such promising youngster who is working hard to make a mark for himself is Rajat Srivastava who was born in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. Rajat began playing cricket at the age of 13 under Coach Ranjeet Paradkar who was back then the coach of Vidarbha U16 team. Rajat started flashing his talent right from his U14 days when he scored a scintilating knock of 196 runs in mere 111 balls in an U14 Tournament. It was that knock which instilled confidence in him as well as the coaches & that’s how he scripted his journey from being a just another local cricketer to making it in the Vidarbha U16 squad.

In the U16 Selection tournament of Vidarbha Cricket Association, Rajat took 24 wkts and scored 160 runs in the series. It was on the merit of that performance he was added in the U16 squad of Vidarbha. Rajat’s rise continued when he took another 12 wkts and even scored 80 runs in 2nd innings vs Ruby Sporting Club in the same match. It was his consistency in the U16 age group, Rajat was later selected in the U19 probables of Vidarbha Team where he took 34 wkts in 4 innings along with 260 runs in the tournament. It was his all-round performance which helped him earn the “Best Bowler” Award from Vidarbha Cricket Association. In the same year, Rajat continued his purple patch taking 14wkts and scoring 190 runs in 3 matches of Vidarbha Cricket Association’s Inter Academy One Day Tournament. Rajat was again awarded the “Best All-Rounder” award this time from the hands of legendary VVS Laxman.

Rajat credits his journey to two coaches namely his childhood coach Ranjeet Paradkar and his RCA club coach Alok Tiwari who helped him in working on his skillset. To find more opportunities in this competitive environment, Rajat has now switched to Uttarkhand State under trainer Pushpendra Chaudhary representing Rudra Lions Cricket Club.
