Raghu Sharma is a Professional Indian Domestic Cricketer who currently plays First Class Cricket from Pondicherry Team. Raghu Sharma is a legbreak spinner and a right handed batsman who can occasionally chip in with crucial cameos with the bat. As a professional cricketer, Raghu has played all the marquee tournaments at Domestic Level right from Ranji Trophy, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Raghu over the years has developed a reputation as a miserly spinner who can also be a lethal wicket-taker on his day. Raghu has excelled in all the formats while in the recently concluded T10 & T12 tournaments in Pondicherry, he was one of the most economical bowlers stamping his presence. Known to puzzle the batsman with his quicker ones , Raghu often gives those Rashid Khan or Afridi vibes when he is in his zone. Raghu began playing cricket quite late from the age of 20 and it’s commendable to see him play all the 3 formats in a span of just 7-8 years. Infact, Raghu is one of the few players to play 5 formats namely Ranji Trophy, List A, Mushtaq Ali (T20’s), T10 & T12.
Raghu made his first class debut representing Punjab in October, 2017 while he made his List ‘A’ & T20 Debut representing Puducherry in 2021. Over the years, Raghu has represented and has also been associated with multiple state level teams right from Cricket Association of Puducherry (CAP), Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA), Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) & Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA). Raghu was also in contention for IPL as he has been a net bowler & part of selection trials for IPL Teams like Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings.
Raghu has also represented Punjab at U23 & U25 Levels and he has played Col CK Nayadu Trophy in 2015. In fact, Raghu also has 2 fifers to his name at U23 State Level vs Andhra Pradesh. Raghu was also part of the Conditioning & Skill camp for Chennai Super Kings in 2013. In 2014, Raghu was part of the U25 NCA Camp while he was also amongst the 4 specialist spinners to be selected in Special Academy Camp conducted by BCCI at Chennai in 2013. Raghu’s biggest breakthrough was indeed when he was selected as the Net Bowler for Indian Team in Border Gavaskar Trophy in 2014. Raghu was also the net bowler for India-Pakistan Trophy in 2015 while more recently he served as a net bowler for CSK in the year 2019.
