Tall, Fit, Lean and Aggressive – the 4 main ingredients for a pace bowler isn’t it? Well Jai is one of those young promising left arm fast bowlers who possesses right mix of ingredients to become an express fast bowler.

Jai Kothari is a professional cricketer currently a part of the Mumbai U25 Squad. Jai who started playing cricket at the age of 17 was certainly a late beginner but rose through the ranks quickly courtesy his commitment towards fitness, his height and the raw pace which he is able to generate coupled with disciplined line and length. Jai started his journey at Chembur Gymkhana under the coaching of Rohit Rane. Jai is currently bowling in nets as well as practicing at KKR Academy under the Coaching of Former Mumbai Ranji Captain Abhishek Nayar and Omkar Salvi.

In a span of 4 years, Jai has rose through the ranks now playing Top Division Cricket and getting his name inked in the Mumbai U25 Squad. Throwback to 2017, Jai started off as a tall lanky left arm pacer representing Chembur Gymkhana in G Division. Fast forward to 2022, he is now bowling in IPL nets, playing in MPL (T20 Mumbai) one of the biggest T20 Tournaments of Mumbai conducted by Mumbai Cricket Association and representing one of the iconic A Division Club of Mumbai Cricket – PJ Hindu Gymkhana.

In his short yet promising career so far, Jai who is 6ft 1inches tall has already stamped his presence as a potent left arm pacer who can give batters a hard time with his swing and pace. Jai shared with Zoomcricket I am really happy to get selected in the Mumbai U25 List, i have been working hard on my game, on my fitness and on my game mindset. I am looking forward to give my best whenever the opportunity comes across. My aim is certainly to play for Mumbai Senior Team followed by IPL then India, it’s a step by step process. When Zoom asked Jai on which bowlers he looks upto, Jai replied – “I honestly don’t look upto any bowlers because you cannot imitate anyone, you have to develop your own identity. However, i like the way Trent Boult bowls, there are many learnings to take from him as a left arm fast bowler.
