Sydney’s All-Round show steers United SPMT INC to Finals win in the Independence Cup’22

United SPMT INC opting to bat first at Reet CC ground in Hyderabad posted a healthy total on board notching up 189/9 in 17.5 overs. Even though they lost their openers early, Skipper Sydney Joseph once again proved to be the game changer for their team. Coming at no.3, Sydney went on to score a match winning 83 runs off just 46 balls which included 12 fours and 3 sixes at a strike rate of 180.00+. The rest of the batters batted around him as United SPMT reached a strong total to defend.

Grand Indians INC in reply could only manage 138/8 in 18 overs courtesy tight bowling by United SPMT bowlers. Shiva Shankar Rao and Rahul bagged 2wkts each while Sydney Joseph was the pick of the lot returning with impressive bowling figures of 3/21 in 4 overs.

United SPMT INC won the match by 51 runs and became the Champions of the Independence Cup. On the other hand Sydney for his 83 & 3wkts was declared ‘man of the finals’. Sydney was also declared Man of the Series (MVP), Highest Scorer and Highest Wicket-Taker in the tournament for scoring 335 runs and bagging 13wkts in 7 games.
