
Into the all important semi-finals of the tournament, Friends XI batting first made a total of 195/6 in 20 overs. Most of their batters came up with starts with Jaswinder Singh top scoring with 49 runs at the middle order. From the bowlers, Khuram Shahzad with 3/35 in 4 overs was the pick of the lot.
Chasing 196, Markhor Team made the chase look easy all thanks to their swashbuckling opener Zain Naqvi who took no time to finish off the match with his firebrand batting. Zain opening the innings went all guns blazing as he went on to score a match winning knock of 107 runs in 37 balls which included 4 boundaries and as many as 13 sixes. Striking at a stunning 289.19, Zain covered almost every part of the ground as Markhor crossed the victory line in the 15th over and won the semi-finals by 8 wkts.
Zain Naqvi for his blazing hundred was declared ‘man of the match’. Zain was also recently selected in the ICC Europe U23 XI to play MCC at Lords on 11th April, 2025.
