Opener Akhil Herwadkar continues fine form, this time a match winning 73 in finals of 74th Salar Jung Tournament’24

Into the all important finals of Salar Jung Tournament, Muslim United Sports Club batting first made a total of 128/9 in 20 overs. Most of the batters chipped in with starts but none of them could convert it into something big. Vaibhav Mali at the middle order was the highest scorer with 30 runs off 21 balls. Young Mohmeddan CC bowlers did a fine job keeping the batters under check as they did not allow the opposition to score runs freely. From the bowlers, Badrey Alam and Maxwell Swaminathan with 2wkts each were the pick of the lot.

Young Mohmeddan Cricket Club chased down the score successfully taking mere 15.1 overs to chase it down winning the finals in a dominating fashion by 8 wkts. Opener Akhil Herwadkar who has been in brilliant form this season continued his purple patch as he once again delivered in a high pressure encounter anchoring the chase with a brilliant 73 off 44 balls. Akhil smashed 6 sixes alongwith 5 boundaries at an impressive strike rate of 165.91 taking on the bowlers hitting them in every corner of the ground!

Result: Young Mohmeddan CC won by 8 wkts and become Champions of Salar Jung Tournament.
