Into the all-important finals vs MV Sports at Youth’s Own Union Cricket Club in Mumbai, Juhu Vileparle Gymkhana Club batting first posted a total of 185/10 in 40.4 overs. Opener Shoaib Shaikh top scored with 70 runs off 70 balls which included 8 boundaries and a six while Yashraj Joshi at no.7 top scored with 42 runs off 37 balls which included 5 boundaries. From the bowlers, Captain Yogesh Sawant was the pick of the lot taking 6/78 in 14.1 overs.

MV Sports in reply were cleaned up for 60 runs courtesy a clinical bowling performance by MV Sports bowlers. Dhanay Parekh with 4/11 was the pick of the lot while Jay Nayak, John Abraham and Samad Akhtar chipped in with 2 wickets each. Receiving a follow on, MV Sports scored 114/5 in 2nd innings in 27 overs before the end of the game’s play where Juhu Vileparle Gymkhana won the match by an innings and 11 runs.

With this win, JVPG also got promoted to B Division of Kanga League. JVPG team under seniors like Samad Akhtar skipper Ankit Mithawala played exceptional cricket throughout the season while Jay Nayak with 20 wkts and Shoaib Shaikh with 197 runs are the top performers from the club who have played pivotal role in the club’s progress.
