Jayy Jain smashes a match-winnning 167 vs VV Karmarkar XI in MCA U23 Shalini Bhalekar Trophy’23

VV Karmarkar XI opting to bat first at Sachin Tendulkar Gymkhana Ground in Mumbai made a 1st innings total of 341/10 in 92.4 overs. Opener Jash Ganiga scored 128 runs while skipper Pragnesh Kanpillewar at no.3 scored 82 runs as both the players provided crucial contributions. From the bowlers, Himanshu Singh with 6/22 and Rajesh Sardar with 4/95 took all the 10 wkts in the innings.

Chasing 342, RR Sahuraja XI successfully chased down the big total with opener Shreeraj Gharat scoring a fine half century. The star performer in the match was Jayy Jain who almost single handedly took the chase in his hands as he went on to score a match winning century. Coming at no.5, Jay turned the game around in no time as he went on to score a brilliant 167 off 163 balls smashing 17 boundaries and 4 sixes at a strike rate of 102.45. Also, this is Jayy’s third consecutive score of 50+ in MCA Matches.

Jayy made his presence felt with a very matured and confident innings helping his team win the match on 1st innings lead. VV Karmarkar XI in 2nd innings were all out for 192 runs and in reply RR Sahuraja XI were 48/1 before the end of the game’s play where match ended in a draw with RR Sahuraja XI being winners on 1st innings lead.
