Vedic Fit Cricket Club after being put to bat first at Achievers Cricket Ground in Pune made a decent total of 185/4 in 20 overs with as many as 5 batters chipping in with 30’s. From the bowlers, Vishal Gawli with 2/28 was the pick of the lot.
Chasing 186, Forza (ICL) chased down the score successfully courtesy a fiery start provided by opener Prabhjot (46 off 28 balls) and Nikhil Jain who put on a quick 73 run stand for the 2nd wicket. Nikhil who leads the team as the Captain led from the front anchoring the chase with a match winning knock of 79* in just 43 balls, a knock which included 8 fours and 5 sixes at a strike rate of 183.72. Nikhil was well supported by the middle order batters Shreyas (31 runs) and Shailesh (13*) as Forza went on to win the semi-finals of the Guts and Glory tournament by 6 wkts.
Nikhil Jain for his unbeaten 79* was declared ‘man of the match”.
Nikhil shared with Zoomcricket: “This innings will be the best of my life, was emotionally a bit down as all was grieving thinking about my mother. This innings I certainly dedicate to my mom and anything from here, it will be for my mom! It’s also special because as a captain I could deliver in such an important semi-finals game, it has given lot of confidence and we look forward to give our best in the finals now”
