Prayag Kumar, the Mumbai Born prodigy is certainly making heads turn with his consistent performances in Canada Cricket. More recently, Prayag shone bright in the BC Big Bash Tournament where he gave impactful performances and took home man of the match award not once but twice!
In the league match vs Champions Cricket Academy, Prayag who represented New Surrey Lions bowled an excellent spell taking 3/20 in 4 overs. It was his solid show with the ball which not only helped him bag MoM award but also helped his team win the match by 47 runs.
Prayag also took home Man of the Match award in the Quarter Finals vs Vancouver Thunders where he was again the pick of the lot taking 3/11 in 3 overs including a maiden. Prayag’s spell included wickets of big fishes like Zohaib Ahmed and Sami Aslam who both are Pakistan International Players and also wicket of Canada Team & Ranji Player Pargat Singh. Newton Surrey Lions eventually won that match by 24 runs and qualified into the semis of the BC Big Bash Tournament.
In the all-important Semi Finals, Newton Surrey Lions defeated Bramton Royals by 40 runs defending a target of 190 and qualified into the finals of the tournament. In that match too, Prayag made his contribution taking 2/33 in 3 overs removing the top order batters.
Prayag displayed a lot of maturity and substance playing alongside senior and experienced players and it will certainly increase his confidence as he keeps on progressing to higher levels of cricket in Canada.
