Akhil’s 2nd innings heroics ensure BPCL emerges Champions of B Division Times Shield’24

CGST opting to bat first at Sachin Tendulkar Gymkhana Ground in Kandivali were all out for 155 runs in 39.3 overs courtesy a brilliant spell by spinner Praful Devkate. BPCL’s Praful ran through the opposition’s batting line up taking 6/47 in 13.2 overs while Atharva Ankolekar taking 4/39.

BPCL in their 1st innings registered a total of 317/10 in 66.1 overs with match winning 90’s by Eknath Kerkar (95 runs) and Atharva A (92 runs) taking a lead of 162 runs.

CGST in their 2nd innings did manage to give a fightback posting 288 runs in 71.5 overs giving a target of 130 to BPCL. All-Rounder Akhil Herwadkar was the pick of the lot in the 2nd innings taking 4/50 in 20.1 overs including wickets of set batters Satyajeet and Ninad who scored half centuries in 2nd innings.

BPCL in reply chased down the score in just 20.1 overs winning the finals by 6 wkts. Akhil Herwadkar opening the innings scored 54 off 43 balls setting the tone for the chase while Harshal Jadhav played the finishers role with an unbeaten 31* as BPCL became the Champions of B Division Times Shield.
