Arun Karthik – One More Karthik from Tamil Nadu’s Stable scripting a comeback?

Arun Karthik

Seems like 2022 is season of Karthiks! First it was Dinesh Karthik making a comeback into the Indian Team through stunning performances in IPL and now it’s his Tamil Nadu counterpart Arun Karthik making his presence strong in the latest season of Tamil Nadu Premier League.

Wicket-keeper batsman Arun Karthik who is known for his explosive hitting displayed a wide range of shots in TNPL and signaled it again to the world that he can still make a comeback into the IPL Circuit. Arun who has over 7000+ FC runs in a career spanning more than a decade also had a brilliant start to his domestic career scoring 149 on debut against Karnataka. Arun also had an equally memorable beginning in IPL hitting a last ball six vs South Australia helping RCB win a thriller. Arun got national spotlight after some brilliant performances in domestic circuit and IPL but such has been the irony, the last time he featured in IPL was way back in 2013 making it almost  a decade since he played his last match.

However, there is always some light at the end of the tunnel and seems like Tamil Nadu origin players have that never give up attitude instilled in them which keeps them going! From DK almost giving up on cricket and even beginning commentary to now spectacularly making a comeback into the Indian Team, Arun Karthik also seems to be scripting a similar story considering his top show in the recently concluded Tamil Nadu Premier League.

Playing for Madurai Panthers, Arun notched up 296 runs in 8 innings at an average of 42.28 & an impressive strike rate of close to 130.00. Arun was not only very influential for his team being the top run scorer for Madurai but he also ended up becoming the 2nd highest scorer in TNPL’22. Arun’s highlight performance also included a match winning hundred vs Nellai Royal Kings when he scored a magnificent 106 off mere 57 balls smashing 12 fours and 5 sixes.

Here’s wishing Arun all the luck for the upcoming season and keeping fingers crossed to see him back in the IPL Circuit!
