Blues 4 batting first at Labarriere Park made a total of 155/5 in 25 overs. Opener Poojan Parekh with 51 runs was the highest scorer while rest of the batters chipped in with starts taking the team to a decent total. From the bowlers, Ramandeep with 2/28 in 3 overs was the pick of the lot.
Chasing 156, Winnipeg Blues were in deep trouble at one stage with top and middle order wickets collapsing. At one stage when match was almost going out of hands, Prayag Kumar who opened the innings played completely blinder of an innings as he went on to score a match winning 64* off 36 balls. Striking at almost 180.00, it was an aggressive knock consisting of 5 sixes and 4 boundaries while he was ably supported by Shinoj Paul (23* off 35 balls) as both the batters took their team to a thriller of a win by just 1 wicket and 1 ball to spare. Even when wickets were tumbling from other end, Prayag held his fort and kept on playing his natural game helping his team clinch a close shave win.
Prayag for his brilliant half century was declared ‘man of the match”
