Giles and Harris Shield Tournaments are one of the most prolific school level tournaments in Mumbai Cricket. Many players emerge out to be the next big thing from these tournaments and many go on to play for Mumbai and India. The likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Wasim Jaffer, Amol Muzumdar, Sarfaraz Khan and almost every Mumbai Ranji Player has played in these school tournaments.

To dominate in such highly competitive tournaments, the school teams need to practice alot and make a very strong team to reach at the top. To develop a strong team needs a good good coaching unit and Modern English School in their very first initial years itself have been growing leaps and bounds courtesy an excellent backup of coaching from Achievers Cricket Academy.

In Mumbai cricket, Inter school cricket tournaments have a big role in shaping young players and Achievers Cricket Academy has taken over the responsibility of developing the Modern English School (Chembur, Chhedanagar) cricket team (U-14 & U-16).

Achievers Cricket Academy shared with Zoomcricket “We and the players are thankful to the school management for their unwavering support while the children compete in prestigious tournaments like Giles & Harris Shield, and DSO tournament. Modern English school cricket team formation under the guidance of Subramanian D and Ashok Kadam of Achievers Cricket Academy has been progressing very well. The school admitted 17 cricketers from achievers cricket academy into Modern English school &parents from different boards were ready to move their school from different boards in order for opportunities in school cricket under the guidance Subbu sir

Modern English School has been extremely supportive and gave all permissions required. The school also granted home schooling facility to those admitted cricketers wherein they only need to go and give exams in school. The students of the school further got an opportunity to play Harris shield, Giles shield, mi juniors and represent school team in other various private practice matches and tournaments.

The Modern English School has further done a great work of giving every year admission to deserving cricketers with 12 months of school team practice under achievers allocated school coach. In the first year of formation itself, Modern English School (U-14) cricket team under Achievers Cricket Academy, qualified for the Elite Group (Top 8 schools in Mumbai) of the prestigious Giles Shield inter school tournament organised my MSSA 🙌🏏

In the ongoing MI Juniors interschool tournament our Modern English Achievers School Team has been performing well and has qualified for the round of 16. Achievers Modern English school will be organising a selection for u14 & u16 school team for next season in the month of February 2023.
