4A’s – Akhil Herwadkar, Ajinkya Rahane, Aakash Anand smash half centuries & Atharva bags 7 as Mumbai defeats Assam in DR.(CAPT) K Thimmappiah Memorial Tournament’25

Played at Alur-1 Platinum Oval Ground, Assam opting to bat first were all out for 206 runs in 49.2 overs. From Assam, Dennis Das at no.3 was the highest scorer smashing a half century. From Mumbai bowlers, Atharva Ankolekar returned with a brilliant spell of 7/39 in 14.2 overs with 2 maidens. Spinner Atharva stood out providing timely breakthroughs and showing consistency in his line and length. Pacer Sylvester D Souza also bagged 3 wickets.

Mumbai in reply scored a massive 407/10 in 99.1 overs powered by 4 half centuries. Mumbai’s dependable and experienced opener Akhil Herwadkar scored 54 runs off 67 balls while stitching a solid 88 run opening stand with Musheer Khan (43 runs) setting up the base for Mumbai innings. Akhil also batted with Ajinkya Rahane as both steadied the ship further on with Ajinkya scoring 66 runs off 110 balls. Suryansh Shedge (59 runs off 88 balls) and Aakash Anand 69 runs off 108 balls also chipped in with handy half centuries at the middle order as Mumbai won the match on 1st innings lead.

Assam batted for 28.4 overs scoring 103/4 in 2nd innings at the end of the game’s play.
