Sporting Union Club defeats Elphinstone CC on their own turf in Kanga Knockout’24

Elphinstone Cricket Club opting to bat first on their home turf in Azad Maidan, Mumbai were all out for 136 runs in 37.2 overs. Ayan and Sandesh with 20’s at lower middle order were the top scorers while Harshal Tandel with 4/13 and Aayush Ambekar with 2/23 were the pick of the lot. Senior and Experienced Player of Sporting CC, Hrishikesh Puranik also chipped in with a wicket in his spell of 3 overs.

Chasing 137, Sporting CC did faced some hiccups losing their top 4 early however all-rounder Aayush Ambekar at the middle order held fort taking his team towards the victory line. Aayush showed patience anchoring the innings in a proper red ball fashion scoring a gritty 36* off 102 balls as rest of the batters batted around him with cameos winning the match by 3 wkts and crossing the victory line in 43rd over.

It was an all-round show by Aayush who trains at Cricket Explained Academy in Mumbai as he first took 2 wkts followed by a full stretch diving catch at point, a direct hit run out and then anchoring the chase under pressure with an unbeaten 36* off 102 balls.
