Venkat’s fifer & Nageshwara’s brilliant 71 steers Spartans CC to a commanding win in Essex and East London Cricket League’24

Redbridge Park CC opting to bat first at Jack Carter Pavilion were all out for 102 runs in 30 overs courtesy a clinical bowling show by the Spartans bowlers. Venkat Kompella bowled his heart out as he led his team through one of his most memorable spells going on to take a fifer. Venkat returned with bowling figures of 5/15 in 5 overs which ultimately made all the difference. Apart from Venkat, Sri Arun Ayyapa also bagged 2 wkts.

Chasing 103 looked like a cakewalk for Spartans CC as they took mere 16.2 overs to end the game in style. It was a white wash win for them as Nageshwara Rao was in no mood to take the game deep counter attacking the bowlers en-route his brilliant 71 off 43 balls.  Nageswara came in when Spartans were 2/2 but it took no time for him to change the game’s momentum as he smacked 9 fours and 4 sixes to take the game away from the opposition.

Spartans CC won the match by 6 wkts while Nageswara Rao was declared ‘man of the match”
