Friends Cricket Club after being put to bat first at AM Cricket Ground in Hyderabad in the all important finals could’nt make much of an impact posting a moderate total of 126/8 in 20 overs. Opener Sami scored 61 runs while Sachin and Srikant Maganti chipped in with 3 wkts each. Apart from them, Saiprasad Bhosle and Sunil Singh also chipped in with a wicket each.
SMCC United in reply did receive a tough fight from the opposition but eventually they crossed the victory line and won the match by 3 wkts to become the Champions of the Russell Mania Tournament. After a shaky start given by the top and the middle order, it was Om and Saiprasad Bhosle playing the finisher’s role to perfection. Sai entered the crease when 6wkts were down and 58 runs were needed off 42 balls and he delivered under pressure scoring a crucial 20 which included a six alongwith Om who remained unbeaten on 25* off 20 balls.
Result: SMCC United won by 3 wkts, Sachin declared “Man of the Match”
