Into the all important semis, Matunga Gymkhana batting first on their homeground ensured complete domination thanks to their openers Ihsaan Amin and Kunal Gawand giving a brilliant opening start putting on a 103 runs opening stand in mere 7.4 overs. Kunal went all guns blazing smashing a quickfire 64 off 23 balls which included 6 boundaries and 5 sixes. Ihsaan on the other hand kept the scoreboard ticking batting almost till the death overs scoring an impressive knock of 93 runs in 54 balls (10 boundaries and 4 sixes). Experienced Bipin Waghela in the death overs played a clutch innings as well scoring 55* off 28 balls.
Koli Combined Cricket XI in reply did manage to put up a tough fight but ultimately they fell short by a margin as Matunga Gymkhana bowlers bowled well in the death overs. Prankesh Rai with 4/32 was the pick of the lot while Moondeep Mangela and Azeem Nawab bagged 2 wkts each as Matunga Gymkhana won the semi-finals by 40 runs.
With this win, Matunga Gymkhana will be entering the finals for the 4th consecutive year. Matunga Gymkhana has been the Champions for 2 years and runner up last season this will the 4th time playing the finals of this tournament
