Opener Akhil’s Quick 63 helps Young Mohmeddan CC pip Bombay Gymkhana in 74th Salarjung Tournament’24

Young Mohmmedan CC opting to bat first at PJ Hindu Gymkhana made a hefty total of 228/8 in 20 overs. The openers Akhil and Skipper Jay Bista gave a flying start to the innings putting on 46 runs in the first 4 overs while Akhil Herwadkar continued his excellent form with the bat in the shortest format too scoring an aggressive half century. The left hander scored 63 off just 39 balls smashing 10 fours and a six at a strike rate of 161.54. Akhtar Shaikh at the lower middle order further gave a finisher came scoring 40 off mere 15 balls which included 4 biggies!

Bombay Gymkhana in reply were cleaned up for 114 runs with Asif Shaikh bagging 4 wkts for 16 runs in 4 overs while Skipper Jay Bista also chipping in with 2 wkts. Young Mohammedian Cricket Club won by 114 runs while Asif Shaikh was declared ‘man of the match”
