Modern English School under Achievers Cricket Academy emerge Champions of U14 Giles Shield Tournament’24

ACHIEVERS MODERN ENGLISH SCHOOL

Into the all important finals of the prestigious Giles Shield Tournament at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, the atmosphere was lit with young players of both the finalist teams having a dream come true moment playing at the picturesque Wankhede Stadium. Both schools were making their maiden appearance in the finals and gave some quality performances with bat and ball amidst some tense moments in the three-day affair.

Oxford English School batting first made a total of 218 runs in their 1st innings with Jasmeet Singh who has been a revelation throughout the season once again being the pick of the lot as he took 4/59 alongwith Shashwat Naik who took 3 wkts.

ACHIEVERS MODERN ENGLISH SCHOOL

Modern English School in reply scored 271/9 in their 1st innings advancing with a lead of 53 runs. Oxford Public School in 2nd innings were all out for 118 runs courtesy another clinical performance by MES bowlers. With a target of 66, Modern English School chased down the score with ease winning the finals by 9wkts. Risabh Sadake (32*) and Pranav Iyengar (25*) finished the job for their team as they created history for their school!

What’s more, Jasmeet Singh took home the Best bowler of the finals award while Risabh Sadake took home Best Batsman of the Series award with 365 runs in 5 matches. Chief Guest Milind Rege, former Mumbai Cricket Captain, Chief Selector and Administrator and Guest of Honour, Mohsin Khan, popular Indian television actor, presented the trophies and medals to the champions, runners-up and the individual award winners.

Subramanian Doraiswamy, Head Coach and Founder of Achievers Cricket Academy shared with Zoomcricket – MES Team has not only made us but everyone proud, the boys played really well and showed composure and maturity whenever it was required from them. It’s been an amazing journey with Modern English School and the way we have made this team from scratch and team winning the Giles Shield Title in its debut season is nothing but a historic moment for the school. The entire Coaching Team of Achievers Cricket Academy needs to be credited as they have worked really hard & with focus on every player and ensuring a strong team is built which can dominate for years. All we can say is, this is just a beginning and we look forward for a continued long term association with MES School with a collective aim of making it one of the most cricket dominant schools of Mumbai Cricket.
