Left-Hander Jayy Jain smashes a blazing 157* in MCA U23 Shalini Bhalekar Trophy’24

Played at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Dilip Vengsarkar XI after being put to bat first scored a total of 336/9 in 63 overs. After losing both the openers for ducks, Ayaz Khan and Jayy Jain steadied the ship and forged a massive 200+ partnership taking their team towards a strong total. Ayaz scored a solid 103 off 127 balls while it was Jayy who once again displayed his fearless flamboyance with an unbeaten 157* off just 131 balls laced with as many as 9 sixes and 16 boundaries. Jayy has been scoring runs consistently across major tournaments and this knock further stamps his presence as he rescued Dilip Vengsarkar XI from a pressure situation.

Whether it was his gritty 74 for Parsee Gymkhana in A Division Kanga League or his 54 ball ton in the MCA U23 Rathod Trophy or his 175* in 3rd innings for Bank of Baroda in A Division Times Shield when not a single batsman managed to score in 3 digits in that match, Jayy has time and again proved his mettle with the bat this season.

VV Karmarkar XI in reply have batted for 4 overs at the end of the Day 1’s play and it will be exciting to witness how the game unfolds in the coming days.
