Tvisha Shetty – One of the young turks of Cricket Explained Academy who has been practicing under Head Coach Hrishikesh Puranik has started off her cricketing journey with a bang getting selected for MCA U15 Practice Matches. Tvisha is only 12yrs old and she has already impressed a lot of people in the cricketing circles making her way into the U15 Age Group.
Coach Hrishikesh Puranik shared with Zoomcricket: “Tvisha came to our academy aged 8. I realised immediately that the girl had the fire in her to achieve great heights in the game. She started bowling fast and as time progressed we worked on her bowling more for her to understand the basic fundamentals of fast bowling. Very early, we made her understand that fast bowling is not just about bowling quick or just turning up and bowling but it’s about outsmart the batter. She’s a gun fielder. Today’s day and age of cricket, where just one attribute doesn’t guarantee you a place in the team, we began working on her batting.
Now she’s a potent middle order batter. We make her play a lot of practice games across U12, U14, U16 mostly boys. Because she has played in boys double her age she has become fearless. She travels with senior teams in crowded trains just to watch games and very often gets an opportunity to play too. As I can say, cricket is engrained in her completely. Very early to say this but as her coach I feel, she’s made for this great game. Her work ethic is second to none at this age. 6 hours daily training. Her parents have played a huge role in this. Not a lot of parents allow the kids to spend that long training but her parents have given me freehand as far her cricket career is concerned. She has a long road ahead but with the consistency in her discipline from a very young age, it comes without a surprise that Tvisha has been included in the U15 probables squad“
